Itinerary
- Day 1: Calgary
- Arrive Calgary airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your flight time, you either pick up your car rental today or tomorrow. Free time today to explore Calgary; suggestions are Pioneer Park, Olympic Ski Park; overnight in Hotel in Calgary.
- Day 2 / 3: Waterton
- Travel along the edge of the prairies, where the ground gives way for the Rockies. This is also called the “cowboy trail”, where the cowboy drives the herds of cattle across the open plains. You then dive right into the Rockies to Waterton National Park…. This is another of the these seldom visited parks, largely because of its remoteness to the main centers…which is why we are here Over the next couple of days you can take the boat route into the Park, or just explore the many short walks from the town. - Day 4 / 5: Fernie
- As if we have not had enough of the Rockies. Today we cross over the divide again to the East side of the Mountains and slip from Waterton National Park to the the middle of the Rockies divide. For the next two nights we stay at a unique and deluxe mountain lodge, surrounded by lakes and mountains; sight see, with short walks and hikes in the mountains surrounding Fernie. For those more relaxed we also have the option of spending the day at the resort on the lake shore enjoying the quiet natural beauty of the Rockies. Options also include canoeing and even helicopter sightseeing.Over night 2 nights in mountain Lodge near Fernie
- Day 6: Kimberly
- Today continue on through the Rockies towards Fort Steele; a historic Hudson bay trading fort, fully restored and operating in its original form. Continue on to nearby Kimberly, to over night at the Catholic Residential School called the Mission of St Eugene….nowadays this is a full service deluxe hotel! - Day 7: Nelson
- Today is the day we take a drive along the Kootenay Lake to the ferry and then to the fascinating town of Nelson. This small town, once a thriving metropolis was to be the capital of BC….. Overnight Historic Hotel, Nelson
- Day 8 / 9: Revelstoke
- Travel today up to visit the Hot Springs at Ainsworth and then North to the Galena Bay ferries and on to Revelstoke. Spend the next day driving up the park road to the Mt Revelstoke Park and the spectacular alpine meadows. Many short walks and hikes, plus wildlife and birds today! Overnight 2 nights in B&B in Revelstoke.
- Day 10 / 11: Clearwater
- Enjoy the majesty of Mount Robson and be captivated by the endless views and vistas! There is nothing to compare with the Rockies! Travel on to Clearwater and the Wells Gray Park. Spend the next day exploring the waterfalls, lakes and wildlife in this wilderness park. Options available for horse riding, boat tours and canoeing. Overnight in small wilderness cabin in Clearwater.
- Day 12 / 13: Jasper
- Today you travel the famous Ice Fields Parkway stopping along the way to capture the sights and sounds of placid lakes, rushing glacier water and the indigenous wildlife! The Parkway affords views of the Athabasca and Dome Glaciers as well as Peyto and Bow Lakes; in Jasper suggest Maligne Canyon, Mount Edith Cavell (time of year permitting), Athabasca Falls, Pyramid and Patricia Lakes, Maligne Lake and cruise. The next day enjoy a tour of Jasper including Maligne Canyon, Mount Edith Cavell (time of year permitting), Athabasca Falls, Pyramid and Patricia Lakes.Overnight Jasper
- Day 14 / 15: Banff
- Travel the Ice fields Parkway from the North; continue on to Lake Louise and Banff. Two days of free time enjoy the resort town of Banff and Lake Louise. Browse through the many exotic shops or meander through museums and art galleries. Take a ride on the Sulphur Mountain Gondola and hike along mountain ridges, a dip in the hot springs and enjoy a variety of trails. Wherever you go in the Banff area the beauty of the landscape defies description. The town also has much to offer in the way of restaurants, bars and nightlife. The there are the trails and walks. Overnight each night in Hotel in Banff.
- Day 16 / 17: Calgary
- Take time on day 16 to head East, stopping at Canmore, Kanananski Country and then Calgary. Spend rest of the day in Calgary. Overnight Calgary Check out the sights of Calgary until returning your car and flying home! Tour ends Calgary
